About Kristen Anderson

My name is Kristen Anderson. 
I have been handling, riding, training and competing many types of horses for over 40 years. 
I have had consistent success in National, Island and Regional Dressage competitions during this time, winning many championships, accumulators and titles. I have represented NZ twice and won the FEI World Dressage Challenge overall and Group 9 twice on two different horses in two different levels (1998 & 2007). 

I have trained with many international dressage trainers including Stephen Clarke, Baron Hans von Blixen Fineke, Kalman de Jurenak, Grethe Hoffmann, Hubertus Hufendeik and Christian Thiess, with whom I worked very closely for many years. I also trained for many years with Saskia Ostermeier, and with lots of other NZ and visiting coaches. 
As well as dressage I have competed with success in Eventing, Show Jumping & Showing and went right through the pony club system in NZ.

At home I currently have my retired FEI Medium Tour horse, "Florin", my young horse Tāne "Fernlea Diamond Gift" who is a 2018 baby by Donnerubin DC/ DonnerwindV/ Landioso and due to begin his competition life soon, and Reuben "Fernlea Don Rubato", a 2016 born Donnerubin/Anamour gelding who had an enormously successful first season competing before having to have some time in the paddock. He was Champion Preliminary at Regional level in Southland, Otago, South Canterbury/North Otago, Ashburton, and Canterbury and Reserve Champion Preliminary Gold at the South Island Champs. He was also the winner of the TL MacLean South Island Dressage Points Prize out of all the horses competing in the South Island this season, the Vetpro Preliminary National and South Island Super 5 League and the Dressage Masters National Top 10 League in Preliminary Silver and Gold.

My methods are kind to horse and rider, practical and easily understood. I absolutely love training grassroots riders and problem-solving. I offer ongoing support to my pupils outside of lessons, staying in touch, answering questions and offering advice.
